Golden Guinea Everlasting (Helichrysum argyrophyllum) is a beautiful landscaping plant as the shimmering silver leaves put on a great show year-round. December-May, it is smothered in small yellow flowers that dry/press well for dried arrangements. It is best cascading down a wall but is also very happy as a groundcover.

This plant is a favourite for dry, high sun areas with poor soil, but it will tolerate anything as long as it isn’t waterlogged. You will have seen it cascading down a wall or in a rock garden- they do well in poor soil with little space for their roots. Like many South African plants, however, they’ll also do just as well in rich soil, as long as they aren’t in full shade.

Grows to about 20cm high, and spreads to about 30cm. It is a quick grower in good soil but is also perfectly happy being neglected. When using in landscaping I space them 30cm apart and plant in full sun.

Please note that cuttings are wrapped in wet newspaper, with no roots, in a small amount of soil. If you are not confident at striking cuttings you should purchase the adult plant. You will receive three 10cm cuttings that need to be put 4cm deep into wet soil as soon as possible.
