FAQ

How do I care for my succulent?

This is an easy care subscription pack! Your succulent will be very happy on almost any windowsill. Water sparingly- wait until you can poke a pencil halfway down and it comes out dry, then give your succulent a little bit of water. Succulents need light and would prefer to be outside, but because they don’t have drainage holes, they need to be repotted or put somewhere that they won’t be rained on.

Can I choose which succulent I get?

No- the order you get your succulents in is predetermined. Succulents aren’t often used in our nursery, so we propagate large amounts of each type just for these subscription boxes to keep the cost low for you. We also like to sneak some rarer succulents in every now and then, as a bonus for our subscribers!

What size is the succulent? What type is it?

The type and size of the succulent changes every month. All of them are small-medium sized for their type, so that they can be posted and you can watch them grow. The first few boxes are very easy care to help you get started. Expect all sorts, from native NZ succulents like Ice Plant, to classics such as Echeverias and Blue Chalk Sticks, as well as a few rarer ones such as Bear Paw and Chain of Pearls.

Why is it in a jar or mug?

After much, much debate, we have chosen to send some of our plant subscriptions in jars or mugs, instead of pots. This is because we do our absolute best to be zero waste and eco friendly- the mugs can be cleaned and sent to a second hand shop, and the glass jars can be recycled. You will notice that they are also delivered in re-purposed milk bottles- every part of the packaging is recyclable.

Does it have to stay in the jar or mug?

All of the succulents can remain in their jar or mug, but they will need fresh potting mix and fertiliser after a year- they would prefer to be planted in a larger pot or a sunny part of your garden. Our test plants have been in the same jars for 12 months now, fertilised every 6 months, and are still happy and healthy.
